Cumulative Advertising

We've just finished our first run and the result is fantastic! We're in first by a wide margin. However, something really bothers me. Even though we've spent a LOT of advertising budget in year 6, out-advertising our competitors by a wide margin in Latin America and Asia Pacific, we're losing retail dealers. We are, however, gaining market shares according to statistics (e.g 30% in Latin America). But the absolute numbers didn't make sense - we had fewer retail dealers in year 7 than in year 6 in Latin America. Is this normal? How to remedy this?

This is something I am unclear about, did you use my magic numbers?

However, if you have fewer retailers, your competition is focusing at taking you down in the long term and therefore you should be aware of that.

Edit: There is more to this than advertising.
